Things I Explain So Often they needed their
own page.
Hi. I made a thing. Here's what it is, who it's for, and why it exists.
By Emily · Doctor of Physical Therapy
I
haven't made this a big deal, mostly because I wasn't sure it needed to be one. But the truth is I've been explaining the same handful of ideas over and over for years — in sessions, in DMs, in the parking lot after class — and at some point it felt silly not to write them down.
So that's what this is. A place for the explanations I keep reaching for. The ones that change how someone thinks about their body, not just what they do with it this week.
None of this is a substitute for working with someone. But a lot of it is the context I wish people walked in already having — because when you understand the why, the what gets a lot less scary.
Who this is for
If you've ever been handed an exercise sheet with no explanation, or told to "just rest" and then felt worse, or been called flexible when you actually feel tight — you're who I'm writing for.
People who want to understand their body, not just be told what to do
Dancers and performers who've outgrown "stop doing the thing that hurts"
Anyone who's hypermobile and tired of feeling like the exception
Clinicians and students who think out loud the way I do
The Whole Idea, In One Line
Understanding why something happens is usually the thing that finally makes it stop happening.
I'm not going to dumb anything down. I'm also not going to bury the point under ten paragraphs of throat-clearing. The goal is the thing I try to do in person: make the complicated stuff feel obvious, and the scary stuff feel manageable.
You don't need more information. You need the right information, in the right order.
What To Expect
Short pieces, mostly. Some are reframes of things you've probably been told wrong. Some are the answers to questions I get constantly. A few are just me thinking out loud about something I can't stop turning over.
Placeholder body paragraph seven. Nam libero tempore cum soluta nobis est eligendi optio cumque nihil impedit quo minus id quod maxime placeat facere possimus.

You can read them in any order. There's no curriculum, no funnel, no twelve-part email sequence waiting to pounce. If something here makes one thing click into place, it did its job.
That's it. That's the thing I made. I'm really glad you're here.
